Community Benefit Fund
The Minnygap Community Fund supports community projects benefitting those living within the Johnstone, Templand, and Kirkpatrick Juxta community council areas. This includes the villages of Johnstonebridge, Templand, and Beattock.
The Fund is independently administered by Foundation Scotland and further information can be found here.
Local Electricity Discount Scheme
Since the early 2010s, RES has been operating its unique Local Electricity Discount Scheme (LEDS), which was developed in response to feedback from the communities around its wind farm projects. LEDS offers a direct and tangible benefit to residential, business and community properties closest to participating operational renewable energy projects in Great Britain and Northern Ireland through an annual discount on their electricity bills.
RES made the first LEDS payments at Minnygap in 2017. Eligible registered properties will continue to receive annual LEDS payments for the operational life of the wind farm.
At Minnygap, the discount is offered to properties within 7.4 kilometres of Minnygap Wind Farm and built prior to September 2016.
